Earlier today, Nomura Securities Co., Ltd. issued a large volume holdings report which contains references to stock certificates on loan from Index Holdings' representative director, Masami Ochiai, to Nomura Securities.
Index Holdings would like to clarify that all voting rights associated with the shares referred to in this report remain completely under the name of Masami Ochiai.
(Updated April 20, 2007) Regarding the Jasdaq Securities Exchange's request for an "Improvement Report"
At the close of February 2007 a meeting of the Index Holdings board of directors reached a decision regarding the dissolution of subsidiary companies. Due to lack of recognition of Jasdaq Securities Exchange requirements to formally disclose this resolution, Jasdaq has requested an "Improvement Report" from Index Holdings.
The dissolved entity was a dormant company that did not influence Index Holdings' performance results. Additionally, according to an inquiry carried out by Index Holdings' internally established risk management committee, Jasdaq had been independently notified of the subsidiary's dissolution. Index Holdings will now issue an Improvement Report which outlines the periodic and comprehensive confirmation functions that are being implemented in order to ensure strengthened organizational structure.
Index Holdings would like to extend its sincerest apologies to shareholders and concerned members of the business community who have been inconvenienced by this matter. The company remains thoroughly committed to the timely and appropriate disclosure of information, and is now implementing follow-up measures to ensure that similar oversights are not repeated in the future.

In accordance with Jasdaq Securities Exchange regulations governing the timely disclosure of important information, Index Holdings registers each IR releases with the TD Net information sharing system. Index Holdings also aims to release company information that extends beyond the scope of formal disclosures; however, this is also carried out under the supervision of the Jasdaq Securities Exchange.

Index Holdings issues dividends once at the end of the company's fiscal year. The dividend for the fiscal year ending August 31, 2008 is forecast for 200 yen per share.

Given the Index Group's current organizational structure, it is better to refrain from publicly issuing monthly performance reports. Index is certainly aware of the performance of Group companies internally, but withholds publishing monthly figures in order to be consistent with published results after audit. Performance figures for each quarter are released in this manner.
Although certain reservations have been expressed towards the disclosure of international performance information, earnings figures will continue to be released on a quarterly basis.
