Index Corporation and five Tokyo based broadcasting stations team up to form TeMo Inc.

Index Corporation (President: Yoshimi Ogawa; Head office: Setagaya-ku, Tokyo; hereinafter referred to as “Index Corp.”), global provider of mobile and media services, and five Tokyo based television broadcasting stations have jointly established a new company “TeMo Inc.” (hereinafter referred to as “TeMo”), which will create a new approach to viewing television. With the unified support of broadcasting networks, TeMo is well poised to deploy real-time mobile content in direct connection with TV programs.

TeMo will develop, provide, and operate a revolutionary remote-control system via mobile phone. Furthermore, in cooperation with broadcasting stations and Index Corp., TeMo will utilize and maintain a common platform for stable expansion of mobile contents tied-up with television programming. In the future, TeMo will provide new mobile services by developing applications and server systems, which capitalize on existing mobile phone remote-control devices, and expand module options.

TeMo service aims at expanding revenue channels beyond current advertising income through guiding users into the official mobile site of each broadcasting station. Moreover, it will lead to the establishment of new business models in the era of terrestrial digital broadcasting.

Initially, operational funds will be secured on returns from guiding users to TeMo’s official site, acquiring new members, and business tie-ups related to the television-program-connected mobile phone remote control.
